What Do You Mean By Kidney Failure?
Kidney failure is the stage where kidney stops functioning properly and is not able to remove the waste from the blood and control the fluid level in the body. It can happen suddenly or gradually. Kidney failure is also known as the renal failure.
What Are The Causes Of The Kidney Failure?
THE CAUSES OF THE KIDNEY FAILURE ARE AS FOLLOWS:
- High Blood sugar.
- High Blood Pressure.
- Reflux nephropathy.
- Inflammations of the nephrons in the kidney.
- Polycystic kidney disease.
- Some Drugs causes kidney failure like NSAIDS (non-steroidal and anti-inflammatory drugs).
What Are The Types Of Kidney Failure?
THE KIDNEY FAILURE CAN BE DIAGNOSED IN TWO WAYS:
1. CHRONIC KIDNEY DISEASE
The disease develops gradually, and the kidney function get worsens over the years. If someone permanently loses the kidney function more than one third, then it is known as chronic kidney disease and ultimately it leads to kidney failure.
The Causes for the chronic kidney disease are as follows:
- Diabetes (type 1 or type 2).
- Poly cystic kidney disease.
- Prolonged obstruction of the urinary tract.
Risk factors for chronic kidney disease:
- High blood pressure.
- Age over 60 years.
- Heart disease.
2. ACUTE KIDNEY FAILURE
A sudden drop in kidney function is known as acute kidney failure. It can be life threatening and requires immediate treatment.
Risk factors for the acute kidney failure are as follows:
- Advanced Age.
- Peripheral artery disease.
- Heart failure.
- Kidney diseases.
- Liver diseases.
The causes of the acute kidney failure:
- Pre-Renal (less blood supply to the kidney).
- Renal (Damage of the kidney itself).
- Post-Renal (obstructions in the other part of urinary tract).
Acute renal kidney is equally common than chronic kidney failure.
What Are The Signs And Symptoms Of The Kidney Failure?
THE SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS OF THE KIDNEY FAILURE ARE AS FOLLOWS:
IN THE EARLY STAGE THERE ARE NO SYMPTOMS BUT THERE ARE FEW SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS WHICH SHOW KIDNEY FAILURE ARE AS FOLLOWS AS:
- Lack of concentration.
- Nausea and vomiting.
- Frequency and urgency of urine.
- Swelling in the legs, foot and ankles it can be ant part of the body.
How To Diagnose The Kidney Failure?
THE DIAGNOSIS OF THE KIDNEY FAILURE CAN BE DONE BY THE FOLLOWING TEST:
- Blood test (GFR Glomerular filtration rate which measure how kidney filtrates the waste from the body).
- Urine test (albumin, RBC, WBC and glucose).
- Ultrasound, CT scan, X-ray.
- Kidney Biopsy.
