Primary syphilis occurs 3-4 weeks after infection of bacteria. Infection begins with a small round sore called as chancre which is painless but highly infectious. These sores appear at the sites (mouth, rectum and genitals) of the entry of bacteria into body. Infection usually spread through sexual activity including oral sex.

In this case, one can experience skin rashes and sore throat. Rashes are not itchy and usually found on palms of hands and soles of feet. Other symptoms associated with secondary syphilis are – swollen lymph nodes, headache, fatigue, fever, weight loss and muscle ache. All these symptoms may disappear within few weeks or year, but still body is infected.
3.LATENT SYPHILIS
If you haven’t received treatment, then secondary infection turns into latent stage with no symptoms. This condition can remain for many years which may progress to tertiary syphilis.
4. TERTIARY SYPHILIS

CAUSES OF SYPHILIS IN AYURVEDA
In Ayurveda, syphilis known as “firanga rog” which is a sexually transmitted disease. It has been classified into bahya (exterior), abhyantar (interior) and bahyabhyantar (two folded) on the basis of symptoms and complications mentioned above. There are three energies – vata, pitta and kapha in body which are mandatory for a good health. Imbalance of any of three energies results in the health complications. Syphilis (firanga rog) is due to the vitiation of all the three energies but kapha dosha is mainly dominating during chronic stages of diseases. Due to this, tissues (dhatus) get intoxicated which leads to serious complications like damage to brain, nerves, blood vessels, heart and bones.
From the Ayurvedic perspective cause of sexually transmitted diseases is the result of weakened immunity.
